I’m not good at technology. If you’ve read my Twitter feed lately, there’s been a lot of talk about this fact. I spilled wine on my Macbook a few days before Christmas (luckily I acted fast and put it in rice for three days. Everything is fine), and last weekend, my iPhone went for a swim. Unfortunately, I did not act as quickly in that case, and despite the fact that my phone spent several days nestled in a bowl of white rice, it hasn’t recovered.
Now, $350 later, I’m waiting for AT&T to deliver my new refurbished 3GS, and I’m researching iPhone cases. I thought I’d be able to get some sort of heavy-duty case that may not be completely waterproof, but would at least be water-resistant. Unfortunately, they apparently don’t really exist. So now I’m kind of at a loss. I do need a more heavy-duty case than what I had been using, but I’m not quite sure which one would be the best.
So I put it to you: if any of you guys have experience with a really good, protective iPhone case, please let me know. I would really like for this phone to make it until the end of my contract and fix my reputation as an electronic serial killer.

I have Griffen hard slide case for my iPhone. I’m pretty happy with it. I’ve dropped it a number of times on the ground and never experienced a problem. It has a raised edge on the front to minimize damage to the screen. It adds significantly to the width of the phone, but not so much I can’t carry it in my pocket.
The only down side is the bottom of the case can catch on the edge of the screen protector and cause bubbles near the bottom. But all in all, I’m happy with it.
